Dear Telford Resident,
As we get ever closer to the day that Britain will have its say on 13 years of Labour, I am keen to make sure that the people of Telford understand the steps a Conservative Government will take to get our country back on track. These include:
- Enable a two-year freeze on Council Tax
- More funding for the NHS and to continue the fight to save services at the PRH
- Restoring the link between the state pension and earnings
- Keeping free bus passes, free TV licences and the winter fuel allowance
- Radical reform of the immigration system with an annual limit imposed
- ‘Never’ to Britain joining the Euro
- We would restore teachers’ authority in the classroom
- 400,000 apprenticeships, college and training places to boost job numbers
- Laws strictly enforced to tackle drug and alcohol abuse
- Police power to use instant sanctions to deal with anti-social behaviour
- An extra 4,200 health visitors to support new parents across the country
- Guaranteed continuation of the minimum wage and child benefit
- A cut in stamp duty for first time buyers
- A recognition of marriage in the tax system
- The abolition of inheritance tax for all families except millionaires
- A reversal of Labour’s increase in National Insurance which is a tax on jobs
- A ‘green deal’ so you can insulate your home now and pay the cost over time through lower energy bills
- A cut in the cost of politics, including a 10% cut in the number of MPs and a 5% cut in ministers’ pay
- A new National Sovereignty Bill preventing further transfer of power to Europe
