Ken Clarke visit gives rallying start to Telford’s General Election campaign

Off to a rallying start, Tom Biggins’ General Election campaign to become the first Conservative MP in Telford gained Ministerial support today with a visit to the town by Shadow Minister, Ken Clarke.
Speaking to supporters, Tom said: “This is an election we absolutely have to win for the good of Telford and our country.
“It is an election about a really big choice in British politics – do we want five more years of Gordon Brown, or do we want change with the Conservatives, who’ve demonstrated they’ve got the leadership, the values, the strength of character and the energy to get this country moving?
“We have got to get rid of this tired, discredited and divided Government. I believe that five more years of Gordon Brown would bring ruin for another generation. Do we really want another five years where every child in Britain is born with £23,000 of debt on its head? Another five years of a Government that has doubled the national debt and will double it again?
“Do we really want another five years of more and more money being spent and wasted, but our social problems getting worse with Labour’s Big Government approach? Do we want another five years of more and more taxes that are doing so much to hurt our families, particularly the poorest?”
Tom added: “There is a choice at this General Election. Even if you never voted Conservative before, think about voting for us this time. The only parties that can win in Telford are the Conservatives or Labour – so a vote for anyone other than the Conservatives is a vote for five more years of Gordon Brown."
Ken Clarke’s town walkabout in Oakengates, meeting local residents and business people, was accompanied by Conservative supporters. It is the first of a series of campaign events running up to polling day to support Tom Biggins in his bid to win the Telford constituency for the Conservative Party.
