UK Border Agency fails to deport illegal immigrant

Friday July 17, 2009
Tom Biggins has expressed his complete outrage at both the Home Office and UK Border Agency for their failure to deport an illegal immigrant living in Telford.

In an open and shut case of deception and false entry into Britain, a man who admitted to being an illegal immigrant and who was convicted, has not been deported by the UK Border Agency. He has since been released back into the community after serving four months of an eight month sentence.

“Having followed this case first hand, it is easy to see that our immigration system is in a state of utter shambles,” explained Tom. “In what is a clear case of deception and false entry to Britain, this experience has served to demonstrate, without any shadow of a doubt, the very poor state of our immigration system, and the real extent of Labour’s ‘open door approach’.

“I can say, from personal experience, this Government is categorically failing to manage the system effectively, allowing people to enter the country under false pretences and stay here without challenge.”

Guilty verdict

The man, originally from Pakistan, was arrested by the police and found to be in possession of the passport and driving licence of a dead person.

Court proceedings followed, and in 2008 the man was found guilty at Shrewsbury Crown Court, where he was given an eight-month prison sentence.

However, in spite of all of the evidence of his illegal status, the UK Border Agency has failed to deport him.
“Because of a procedural error, the automatic deportation of the immigrant failed.” Tom points out. “However, the UK Border Agency can still take steps to remove him, but seem reluctant, or incapable of doing so.

“From start to finish, it has been nothing short of a complete mess, and the Border Agency is now hiding behind the data protection laws and refusing to disclose what action, if any, they are taking.

“What example does this set? The Labour Government keep telling us how they are cracking down on illegal
immigrants. That is simply not the case. “It’s no wonder that over the last 12 years an estimated 570,000 people have entered Britain illegally and are still here.

This situation has got to change. The only way that I can see this happening is by changing the Government.”
