George Osborne, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer
George Osborne, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, visited Telford in April to help Tom Biggins, Parliamentary Spokesman for Telford, to highlight the needs for urban regeneration in areas such as Dawley and Oakengates.
The visit featured a walk around the centre of Dawley to look at the urgent need for economic development and rejuvenation of the area. He spoke to a host of local shop keepers, business people and residents to listen carefully to their concerns. Other problems discussed by both George Osborne and Tom Biggins included antisocial behaviour and crime, as well as the lack of services and facilities for young people.
“Local people were delighted to see such a high profile Conservative figure in Dawley and that the Conservative Party is making such a major effort in Telford,” said Tom Biggins.
In Oakengates, the problem of unsightly graffiti on a children’s play area was brought to George’s attention by Conservatives Council candidates, Sean Kelly and Joy Francis.
